EDUCATION AND GUIDANCE (CEG)
CEG is taught through one-hour sessions and several one-day workshops.
Our aim is to focus pupils’ attention
on planning for a realistic career including plotting out
the different educational/training routes to achieve career goals,
bearing in mind that employers are increasingly interested in
prospective employees with the right personal
qualities and transferable skills as
well as having good academic qualifications. So, over the
two year course we invite up to thirty visiting speakers to talk
to Y10 and Y11 students about different careers and we hold an
annual Careers Convention each October for parents and pupils.
There is a small Careers/Training section in the Connexions
Meeting room which pupils can use during lunchtimes and after
school.
Most CEG work in Year 10 prepares pupils
for their two-week Work Experience during November of Year 11.
This preparation follows the steps that are needed to gain a first
job: preparing a Career Profile, writing a Letter of Application,
compiling and word processing a CV and preparing for and attending
a twenty minute interview.
Workshops include a full days Health and
Safety training, an International
Enterprise Day & a Careers Exhibition.
