Our department seeks to provide the opportunities for students to develop as communicators by means of the spoken and written word. It is fundamental to our teaching that all students are exposed to the enabling power of language and the enriching experience offered by the study of literature.

English is one of the three core subjects taught to all students up to GCSE. We also run two very successful AS and A2 levels: Combined English language and Literature and a separate A level in Literature.
