No formal qualifications are required to study AS/A2 Film Studies but the written aspects of the course demand good levels of spoken and written communication. Therefore GCSE English at Grade C or above is desirable. It is also recommended that candidates have some prior experience of textual studies, such as literature or humanities at GCSE level or equivalent.
Course Information
The course is designed to deepen students’ appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of film. The syllabus includes Cinema as a medium, as an art form and as a social and economic institution. In addition, the course will develop skills in observation, critical analysis and personal reflection.
