The use and management of ICT has opened

ICT plays a central role in every employment sector
from local and national government to the armed services,
agriculture, manufacturing, construction, engineering,
retailing and transport. New jobs have been created
in Internet services, web and multimedia design, telecommunications
and network management. It is anticipated that vacancies
will continue to outnumber qualified candidates in
the near future.
A further insight into the skills needed
to work successfully in the "Information Age"
can be obtained from the IT National Training Organisation’s
website http://www.itnto.org.uk/html/workinit.htm
and the Department of Trade and Industry’s website
http://www.dti.gov.uk/infoage/index.htm
Course delivery:
Extensive use of ICT tools will be
used in the delivery of the course. Students will
be expected to carry out research using the Internet,
submit work via e-mail and prepare for examinations
and tests using on-line resources on the school Intranet.
There will be visits to local ICT companies and talks
from ICT practitioners from the ICT industry.
Is this a course for you?
The answer is yes if you have a genuine
interest in ICT. If you have already studied ICT at
GCSE you will have a good idea of what is involved.
However, you do not need to have studied the subject
at GCSE to do the AS/A level. If you have any questions
please see Mr O'Neill or Mr Nicol.
