is always watching you! Welcome to the Media Studies
section of the Hornsea School website where I’m
going to tell you all you need to know to be the
next Jennifer Anniston, Steven Spielberg or Eminem.
Unfortunately that was
a big, fat lie. If I had that kinda knowledge
do you really think I’d be teaching?! Media
Studies isn’t going to make you a star and
I don’t think it’s going to make you
rich and NO, whatever Mr Jenkins may have told
you, it’s not “watching TV”.
In Media we try and look at a wide variety of
mediums, analysing how things have been constructed,
why they’ve been done in that way and the
effect that this has on the audience. You’ll
learn lots of new words! We teach you a few important
skills along the way too such as script writing,
screenplaying, storyboarding, product designing,
photography, video work and, if you’re very
good, video editing. It’s not an easy subject,
there’s a lot of written work to be done,
but I think it’s something that will really
open your eyes to the media saturated world in
which we all live today.
At Hornsea School we offer
Media Studies courses in both KS4 and KS5. You
will be able to gain qualifications at GCSE, AS
and A2 levels.
