Unit 3 - COURSEWORK UNIT.
This unit incorporates TWO LINKED ELEMENTS. The first part of the unit is a PRACTICAL BRIEF. The assignment allows you freedom to express yourself through the knowledge you have gained in the AS course. You choose an area of study within the ART and DESIGN spectrum and apply this to a PRACTICAL OUTCOME. The second section of the unit is a PERSONAL STUDY where you RESEARCH, EVALUATE and ANALYSE a chosen subject which could be a BRANCH OF ART, an ARTIST or PRACTITIONER, WORKING METHODS, or an ART MOVEMENT. You then link this to your PRACTICAL WORK to gain an insight to how your own style of working is developing. The STUDY can be an ILLUSTRATED ESSAY, A VIDEO, A WEBSITE or ANY OTHER APPROPRIATE MEANS OF PRESENTATION.
Unit 4 - EXTERNALLY SET ASSIGNMENT.
This unit allows you to DEVELOP a PERSONAL RESPONSE to a brief set by the awarding body. You will RESEARCH, PLAN and DEVELOP your ideas prior to a TIMED (12 HOUR) PRACTICAL EXAM. You should show evidence of being able to generate a range of ideas, conduct research appropriate to your intentions, RECORD and ANALYSE both PRIMARY and SECONDARY sources. DEVELOP, REVIEW and REFINE your ideas in light of your RESEARCH. All your preparatory work will be logged in a sketchbook or visual worksheets to work alongside your final PRESENTATION.
