The GCSE award is based on a coursework element worth 20% and one exam worth 80%.
Social Psychology
This area of psychology investigates the following topics:
How we form impressions of other people
Prejudice and discrimination
Social influences such as conformity and obedience
This section of the course looks at how other people influence our behaviour and what we can do to reduce stereotyping.
Developmental Psychology
This area of psychology investigates the following topics:
Sex and gender
Cognitive development
Attachment and separation
This section of the course looks at our development in childhood and how our parents bring us up.
Pro and Anti Social Behaviour
Development of moral behaviour
Pro-social behaviour
Anti-social behaviour
This section of the course looks at how we gain helping behaviour, what influences it and how we can also learn aggressive behaviour and try to reduce it.

This section of the course looks at the abilities of the brain, how we learn things and how we remember or forget things.
The course is very interesting but takes a lot of hard work and determination to get through it. There is some complicated terminology to learn and some difficult psychologist names but once you have overcome the hurdle of these things it is a very interesting subject!
