Resistant Materials Technology:
Resistant Materials
Technology is concerned with the activities
of designing and making, using the materials
of wood, metal and plastic. The course encourages
pupils to develop a range of practical skills
and demonstrate their ability to make quality
products.
The course looks at methods of production
used in industry from CAD/CAM to batch and
mass production.
Systems
and Control Technology:
Systems and Control
Technology is concerned with designing and
making products using electronic and mechanical
systems. Products are manufactured using
Industrial techniques, with CAD/CAM being
at the centre of the manufacturing process.
Pupils combine knowledge from other subjects,
including mathematics and Science with Design
Technology to demonstrate through their
project work, how control techniques can
be successfully used in a range of products.
Projects are constructed in wood, metal
and plastic incorporating electronics and
mechanisms.
Graphic
Products:
Graphic Products
is the designing and making of things that
people want and that work well. Creating
these things is an exciting and inventive
activity.
Activities include
learning new graphic techniques including
colour tonal work, use of pastels, crayons
and airbrush etc and the formal drawing
techniques of orthographic and isometric
projection. ICT is used throughout the course.
Pupils develop practical skills through
using a range of suitable modelling materials
from Styrofoam to balsa wood.
