HSLC

HSLC Eco-Action Group

AT HSLC we have a newly established, but committed and enthusiastic group of both students and staff, keen to make a difference in ensuring the long-term sustainability of our school and community.

We are also very excited at the prospect of Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire becoming a UK flagship region for the renewables industry - the resulting opportunities for us all and the impact on socio-economic regeneration is potentially massive.  We have embraced these exciting developments in our school by making our students  aware of them and of environmental issues and exploring renewable energies available to us.
We have set ourselves a challenging development plan for our first year and already, in our first term we have already achieved the Bronze Award for Eco-Schools and we are well on our way to silver.

We link a great deal of our sustainability awareness across all curriculum areas and in particular our STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Maths) activities

Last May we held our first Green Britain Day conference and we are now planning a bigger event this year for all our Year 9 students on Friday 11th May 2012 – Watch this space for info!
