There are 10 schools in the Hornsea cluster - Hornsea School and Language College, plus the 9 feeder primary schools. Our development for extended services began back in April 2005 when an audit was carried out followed by community consultation, in which questionnaires were sent out to all students, their families and also to a number of local community organizations.

The audit enabled us to see our existing provision and it was evident that as a cluster all schools were already offering some of the ‘core services’ to some degree. For example all schools were offering study support and extra activities to a greater or lesser degree with sports and arts activities.

The community questionnaire, is a very important part of developing extended services as this meant we could determine the level of demand for extended schools services and to identify areas of need which may be addressed by introducing or enhancing existing “core services”.

By Autumn 2005 the first cluster framework was produced as a guide to work towards over the next year. After evaluation at the end of August 2006 and further consultations with headteachers and parents, a new updated framework has been produced for the period 06/07.
