LEA Principal Architect, Paul Bird, designed the new centre after
consultation with staff and students. Briefly, the centre will comprise
of a general social area with kitchen facilities on the ground floor,
this will also facilitate an assembly area for all sixth form students.
There will also be several seminar rooms on the ground floor.
An ICT area will be created upstairs along with more seminar
rooms and office space.
The centre will mean that our sixth form students will have their
own centre quite separate to the rest of the school and this will
then allow the school to move Humanities together into what is
the current sixth form area which will in turn mean that Modern
Foreign Languages can accommodate the entire ‘middle school’
area as the Specialist Language College.
The building work is on schedule and therefore we are hopeful
that the new Sixth Form Centre will be ready for use by the end
of November/beginning of December.
