An example of a lesson using a 'Connections' exercise which allowed
pupils of all abilities to put their knowledge into practice.
All 'Key Words' from the lesson are placed randomly on the board (or
worksheet). The pupils have to connect two or more words and then
write a sentence explaining how the words go together.
As the key words were already on the board the opportunity to play
'Splat' was overwhelming! This became my plenary. The pupils have to
select three words from the board and write a sentence explaining the
word without using the word in the sentence.
Two volunteers come to the board and challenge each other on their
knowledge of key words.
The teacher selects a pupil to offer their clue to the mystery
word. The contestants turn and face the board. The first contestant to
touch the correct word is the winner. Best of three. One touch only.
If you touch the wrong word you stand back from the board. The winner
stays on.The contestant who selected the correct word then has to
explain the word in the context of the subject matter.Chocolate prize
goes down well! |
