This consists of three units.

Unit 4 - Energy, Control and Continuity.
This includes the study of photosynthesis and respiration, survival, nervous co-ordination, inheritance and variation, homeostasis, classification, selection and evolution.

Unit 5 - The Environment
This includes the recycling of materials, ecosystems dynamics and energy flow, human effects on the environment. This unit also involves a piece of assessed coursework where students have to carry out research of a rocky shore.

Unit 6 - Microbes and Disease
Structure and culturing of bacteria, commercial biotechnology, bacterial and viral diseases, protection against disease

Successful completion of AS Biology

A2 Biology - This will give you access to a wide range of courses at degree level. You have to plan and implement a fieldwork research investigation.

You will develop and use statistical methods to analyse data. (Science degree requirement)

You will gain skills required for safely culturing microbes. You may also be given the opportunity to look at brewing techniques!

Access to a wide range of courses at degree level from Medicine to Forensics to Microbiology to Marine Biology.
