The course consists of three units
Unit 1 – Biology and disease
This includes biochemistry, cell ultra structure, enzymes digestion and diseases that affect the digestive system. The lungs, heart and immunology

Unit 2 – The variety of living things
This unit links a range of features from molecules to systems, classification and biodiversity. It includes the genetic code and cell division.

Unit 3 – Investigative and practical skills
This unit will allow you to carry out investigative activities, analyse and evaluate the data that you collect

(A minimum of a C grade (from the Biology component of the G.C.S.E. double award). It would be preferable to have B grade. It would be a big advantage to have either double award or separate Biology over single award science.

Successful completion of AS Biology will lead to A2 Biology.

AS Biology content overlaps with other subject areas, which strengthens subject knowledge. Students who gain AS Biology are better equipped when applying to university to study a range of degrees with a science content such as Sports Science
