| What Will I Learn? |
|
Unit 4 involves work on Kinetics, Equilibria, Acids & bases together with further study of Organic Chemistry (Nomenclature & isomerism, Carbonyl compounds, aromatic chemistry, amines, amino acids, polymers, synthesis and analysis.
Unit 5 includes Thermodynamics, Periodicity, Redox, Transition metals and reactions of inorganic compounds in solution.
Unit 6 assess practical skills. Candidates undertake an investigation where they collect and process data and then sit a written test in a similar way to AS Chemistry.

| Future Opportunities? |
Chemistry is an important subject in its own right but it is also central to the study of many branches of Science. With Biology and/or Physics, it opens the door to further study or a career in, for example: Biochemistry, Catering, Chemical Engineering, Dentistry, Food Science, Forensic Science, Medicine, Metallurgy, Pharmacy and Textiles.
Chemistry is also a useful qualification for those students not wishing to go to college or university but seeking a technical job in local industries or hospitals
