| What Will I Learn? |
|
The course is available in two different material areas. These are Resistant Materials Technology and Graphics with Materials Technology. Both courses have the same structure and assessment criteria.
Unit 3 A2: Further Study of Product Design.
Again this unit is assessed through a written paper. It tests knowledge and understanding of: modern techniques and materials; product manufacture; and design in practice.
Unit 4 A2: Commercial Product Development.
This is the ’design and make’ activity in year 2 of the course. Students must liaise with a client or user group in order to develop a commercial product. |

| What Are The Entry Requirements? |
GCSE Design and Technology grade C is required.

| Is There Anything Else I Need To Know? |
The Edexcel GCE in Design and Technology has been designed to provide opportunities for students to develop their creativity and entrepreneurial skills: to apply knowledge and understanding to a range of technological activities and: to develop critical thinking and collaborative skills. |

| Future Opportunities? |
Some students choose Design and Technology to complement their other A levels and to add a ‘practical’ element to their studies. Others go on to study a further course at University. There are many to choose from including Product Design, Graphic Design, Architecture, and Teaching. |
