Geography is the study of the world. It allows you to learn how things have changed in the past and how they will change in the future. Geography is the most important subject to date on the world when it is facing some of the most challenging questions it has ever faced.

What Will I Learn?
In 2008, Geography, like other GCE/AS/A2s, will be undergoing some changes. The new course for AS Geography will be as follows Unit 1: Physical and Human Geography (70% of AS; 35% of A2) Exam sat in June In this module you will learn about: Rivers, floods and management Coastal environments Global population change And either food supply issues; energy; or health issues Unit 2: Applied Skills (30% of AS; 15% of A”) Exam sat in January In this module you will develop a variety of skills including fieldwork, use of maps, graphs, statistics and ICT. If you are willing to put in the required work you will achieve excellent results. Results in Geography are consistently some of the highest in Hornsea School, with the subject in the top 10% in the whole country for value added results.

What Are The Entry Requirements?
GCSE Geography is NOT REQUIRED. We have had a number of students who have got excellent results without it. What is needed is an enquiring mind and enthusiasm. GCSE Grade C in English is also desirable

Is There Anything Else I Need To Know?
If you are willing to put in the required work you will achieve excellent results. Results in Geography are consistently some of the highest in Hornsea School, with the subject in the top 10% in the whole country for value added results

Future Opportunities?
The majority of students continue with their studies and complete an A2 level in Geogrpahy.
