The AS Law Course covers a wide range of real life issues relating to the law and includes study of the English legal system, the people who work in the law and a number of different areas of substantive law.

The course is made up of two units, each of which are assessed by one, hour long examination. There is no coursework.

Unit 2; The Concept of Liability

Section A; Introduction to Criminal Liability
Underlying principles of criminal liability
The courts: procedure and sentencing

Section B; Introduction to Tort
Liability in negligence
The courts: procedure and damages

At least a grade ’C’ in English

This course will provide you with an AS Level qualification. In addition to which a wide range of transferable skills will be acquired. These include literacy, ICT, research skills, independent learning techniques, evaluation and organisational skills

Students may progress to study law at A2 level before commencing degree level study either in Law or another subject area. Alternatively, some students may wish to enter the work place. AS Law is a good foundation for either choice, as it shows an ability to cope with rigorous academic study and is useful for careers in the police, the prison service, the legal profession, business, finance, politics, government etc
