This is and exciting and interesting course for anyone who is interested in modern music.

You will be learning to use modern up to date studio equipment to create your own recordings and arrangements. Your listening and analysis skills will also improve during the course.

Unit 1 Practical activity
1A You will use computer sofware to create a sequenced midi performance of a piece of music set by the exam board.

1B you will use Pro Tools to record a piece of popular music of your own choice.

1C You will create a sequenced arrangements using a stimulus set by the exam board as a starting point

Unit 2 Listening Exam
You will sit a listening exam where you are given a CD and asked questions about the music that you can hear and the way it has been recorded.  The music studied for this exam comes from the areas of "Popular music since 1910" and the principles and practice of Music Technology.

Usually 4 G.C.S.E.s at Grade C and above. It is a big advantage if you have studied G.C.S.E. Music although not essential. If you play and instrument or DJ to a high standard you may have the necessary skills to start this course.

You will be able to use a studio to make your own recordings and, although it is not covered by the exam, you will have the opportunity to learn about live sound work.

You will be able to use a midi sequencer to make your own music arrangements.

The knowledge that you pick up in the course will enrich your own music listening.
