Unit 1 - COURSEWORK UNIT.
This introductory unit allows you to DEVELOP your VISUAL LANGUAGE by undertaking several PHOTOGRAPHIC ASSIGNMENTS. This is to improve your TECHNICAL ABILITY as well as deepening your ART AND DESIGN VOCABULARY. You will study the FORMAL ELEMENTS of Art and Design: LINE, TONE, COLOUR, SHAPE, PATTERN, TEXTURE and FORM. This knowledge will allow you to COMMUNICATE your IDEAS in an exciting and visual form. You will RESEARCH the work of artists from the past and the present to evidence your ongoing CRITICAL and PRACTICAL knowledge. You will write your own PHOTOGRAPHY BRIEF and bring your study to an informed and creative solution.
Unit 2 - EXTERNALLY SET ASSIGNMENT.
This unit allows you to DEVELOP a PERSONAL RESPONSE to a brief set by the awarding body. You will RESEARCH, PLAN and DEVELOP your ideas prior to a TIMED (8 HOUR) PRACTICAL EXAM. You should show evidence of being able to generate a range of ideas, conduct research appropriate to your intentions, RECORD and ANALYSE both PRIMARY and SECONDARY sources. DEVELOP, REVIEW and REFINE your ideas in light of your RESEARCH. All your preparatory work will be logged in a sketchbook/visual worksheets to work alongside your final PRESENTATION.
