Studying Theatre at Hornsea is fun, challenging and exciting, as well as being different to any other subject in the timetable. Everyone in the Drama department is really supportive. I would recommend doing Theatre Studies at Hornsea to anyone who enjoys doing drama, especially if you enjoyed it at GCSE.

What Will I Learn?
Unit 1
This Unit is worth 60% of the total marks and is split into two sections
Section 1 – you will see different live theatre performances and analyse them. You will need to understand how performers, designers and directors communicate the meaning to the audience.
Section 2 – You will explore a set text through practical workshops and research.
Unit 2 – 60% of the total marks In a group you perform a published play after spending time exploring and developing the performance, and you will study influential designers, theatre companies and practitioners linked to your practical work.
What Are The Entry Requirements?
You need to be creative and able to communicate your views through drama You will have an interest in developing acting or technical skills and an enjoyment of watching live theatre
How Will I Be Assessed?
In the exam (1 hour 30 minutes) you will answer two questions. One on each section You will be allowed to take notes and an annotated text into the exam.
Is There Anything Else I Need To Know?
AS Theatre Studies. You will develop skills as a performer and as a critic. You will be able to place work in it’s social and historical context
